BDR - Overview

Pointivity Backup & Disaster Recovery (BDR) is an advanced recovery and continuity device that comes preloaded with all the storage, recovery and virtualization software to protect your business data and maintain high-availability for your IT operations.

Key features of the BDR:
Models available from 400GB up to 4TB
Complete server backup preserves OS & applications, not just the data
BDR can run failed servers in a virtualized mode (up to 20 servers simultaneously)
Restore servers to working hardware no matter the manufacturer
Easy file & database recovery and fast mailbox & message restore

Much more than backup
BDR is much more than a backup device, it's also a great utility for your IT department. For example when upgrading from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007, you can run Exchange 2003 on the BDR while using your existing hardware to upgrade to Exchange 2007 with no impact to your business operations and no capital expenditures for new servers.

The same utility can be applied to SQL and BI reporting. You can freeze and run SQL Server reports each month on the BDR without impacting your production environment or buying new servers.

Other benefits
5 minute rollback - fast Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
5 minute increment snapshots - frequent Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
Block level replication - allows for fast file & database recovery
Secure - block level data is encrypted at point of transfer
Full disaster recovery - offsite storage and server archive
